VILLA CAVARENA | VALPOLICELLA 2017

An easy drinking, affordable, Italian gem.

I'm not sure why I felt the need to place this picture of my great grandfather in with the wine, but here he is. Here it is. Here we are.

PLEASANT, LIGHT, AND TASTY.

While this wasn't one of those magical wines that aroused me immediately upon tasting it, it was definitely enjoyable. In fact, I'm a little tipsy because I enjoyed this wine so much. It's just... very nice! This light/medium-bodied Italian blend reminded me of some New Zealand Pinot Noir's with it's bright cherry, tart acidity, fine tannins, little pepper...

We paired this with some cod and roasted vegetables (not purposefully, that just how the cookie crumbled this evening), and it was light enough that it didn't overpower either at all. I enjoyed it with dinner, as well as before and a little after with my nightly cashew milk double chocolate ice cream. Hence my buzz.

This wine is so easygoing, you could drink every night of the week if you wish. And at just $14.99 a bottle, it's doable.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Buy it. Buy a few of them. Keep them handy for when you need something that won't offend anyone.
